Year 7

Treby, JackYear 7 Coordinator:                 Jack Treby

A warm welcome to Year 7 students and parents/carers to what I am certain will be an exciting and rewarding year for our Year 7 cohort here at Indro. Even in the short time we have been at school I have been impressed with the enthusiasm, energy and attention demonstrated by our new Year 7s. Starting secondary school marks a significant transition in their school life, and it is quite normal for them (and you!) to feel a bit nervous and unsure about their new environment. Nevertheless from what I’ve observed and the conversations I’ve had with students they are quickly becoming accustomed to their new surroundings as they settle into their classes and familiarise themselves with the school and their schedules. It has also been heartening to see students adopting our school values so readily and demonstrating our great Indro spirit of inclusivity, meeting new people and making new friends.

Upcoming events for students to look forward to include our swimming carnival (week 3) and our school camp (week 6). Camp is a wonderful way for students to form closer bonds, get to know their classmates and teachers and also challenge themselves and develop leadership skills.

To help students prepare for their classes they have been given school organisers, which are valuable tools to keep track of homework, assessment, timetables, and also our school policies, information and study tips. Students are to bring their organiser to all classes, and they are also a good way for you as parents/carers to keep up to date with students’ homework and assessment.

Year 7 is set to be an exciting year, filled with many new experiences and opportunities. I hope this year is a fulfilling and successful 2016 for all Year 7 students and their families. I look forward to meeting many of you at the New Families Evening this coming Tuesday the 31st of January.
