PROSPECTIVE students and their parents are invited to attend our Indro Tours, Special Programs Evenings and Open Day.
Indro Tours are a special opportunity to see our school at work. You will hear about our unique culture and ethos and learn about the diverse academic programs that we offer young people. Families are guided through the school by our students and see our classes as part of a normal school day.
Our Special Programs Evenings feature in-depth information sessions about our innovative Year 7 curriculum programs. Sessions are held for our programs in Maths and Engineering Acceleration, Spanish Immersion, Chinese Acceleration and Music Acceleration Program. Future parents and students will learn about the way these courses are structured and the requirements for entry. Families will also meet current students who are engaged in these programs.
Indooroopilly State High School’s annual Open Day is a highlight of the school calendar and a much-anticipated event when we get to showcase our school to prospective students, their families and the community. Visitors can experience all that Indooroopilly SHS offers in terms of curriculum and school culture, and have the opportunity to enjoy student performances, peruse curriculum displays, and engage with teachers, school leaders, our Parents and Citizens’ Association members and students.
We will also be offering our popular Indro Tours, where current students lead visitors around the school to provide information about their experiences at Indro, highlight our facilities, and describe some of our exciting new building projects and developments for 2020 and beyond.
In the School Hall, faculties will hold subject displays outlining our curriculum offerings, there will be science demonstrations and Latin dancing on the inner school road, fitness testing and woodworking activities on our tennis courts, and music, drama and dance performances in the school amphitheatre.
Our Languages Centre (Q Block) will feature a wide range of in-depth information sessions about our innovative curriculum programs such as Maths and Engineering Acceleration, Spanish Immersion, Chinese Acceleration, Music Acceleration and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. You can also find more information about Innovation and Entrepreneurial Mindset at Indro, Student Laptops, Year 7 at Indro, Years 10, 11 and 12 at Indro in Q Block.
Come along to Open Day on Thursday 23 May 2019, get to know our school and community, enjoy a free coffee or a sausage at our P&C sausage sizzle, and see the best that Indro has to offer.
A student reflection on Open Day:
“Every year since Year 8, and now being a Senior in Year 12, I’ve felt that Open Day at Indro allows incoming and interested students and parents to immerse themselves in the culture and environment here at Indro. Open Day showcases all the possibilities and opportunities that Indro provides for their students to become forward thinkers. I would strongly encourage any prospective students to come along to Open Day and make the most of the chance to take part in a wide range of activities, ask questions at our subject information stalls and enjoy the creative performances. It is an amazing opportunity to get a taste of the wonderful environment we have here at Indro and see Indro’s values embodied throughout the school community.”
