Year 7, 8 and 9
In Year 7, all students study an introductory and inter-disciplinary program. All eight Learning Areas are studied and integrated where appropriate. In each semester, students engage in the subjects of English, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, Health and Physical Education, The Arts and Sport, with continued emphasis on numeracy and literacy. Further, students study a semester of LOTE (Chinese and Spanish).
In Year 8, students continue to study English, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, Health and Physical Education and Sport. Students study an Arts and Languages elective of their choosing. Students also study the Learning Area of Technologies, encompassing the areas of Home Economics, Manual Arts and Business.
In Year 9, students’ course of study is made up of two parts: the Core and the Electives. All are enrolled in the Core subjects which consist of English, Science, Mathematics, Health and Physical Education, and History. In addition, Year 9 students choose three elective subjects from the following options:
- Design & Technologies: Food & Textiles
- Design & Technologies: Industrial
- Technology & Design
- Digital Technology
- Economics and Business
- English for ESL Learners
- Media Arts
- Chinese Acceleration
- Maths & Engineering Acceleration
- Spanish Immersion(NB: The Principal reserves the right to discontinue an elective subject if there are insufficient numbers to form a class of viable size.)Students who began Spanish Immersion, Chinese Acceleration or Maths and Engineering Acceleration Programs in Year 7 will continue these subjects.
